Submit Your Music
We take independent artists on merit, not follower counts. Send finished, release-ready work and we will review it. Everything below is the same spec our distributor requires — follow it and your release clears on the first pass.
Read the three checklists. Fix your masters, artwork and titles before you send anything.
Drop your audio masters, video files and cover art into the secure folders.
Complete the form with your metadata, credits and codes. We confirm by email.
Before You Submit
Read all three checklists before sending anything. Submissions that miss these requirements get rejected at the distributor level and have to be re-uploaded — which pushes your release date back.
01Audio Release Checklist
- Audio File
- High-resolution, uncompressed WAV or FLAC. DistroKid recommends 24-bit / 48kHz (minimum 16-bit / 44.1kHz). Avoid MP3s.
- Audio Master Cleanliness
- Leave about one second of silence at the exact start and end of the track to prevent streaming clips or cuts.
- Cover Art Size
- Exactly 3000 x 3000 pixels (minimum 1000 x 1000).
- Cover Art Format
- A square .jpg or .png file using the RGB color space.
- Cover Art Restrictions
- The image must not include social media handles, website URLs, barcodes, pricing, streaming logos, blurry graphics, or references to physical media (like "CD" or "Vinyl").
- Title Formatting
- Use Title Case. Track titles must not contain primary artist names, release years, or generic version comments inside parentheses like "(Final Version)".
02Music Video Checklist — via DistroVid
- Video Scan Type
- Progressive only. Interlaced formats like 1080i will be rejected.
- Audio / Video Alignment
- To push videos to platforms like Spotify, the exact corresponding audio track must already be distributed by DistroKid. The artist name and track title must match identically.
- No Graphic Overlays
- The video must not include embedded lyric subtitles, release dates, watermarks, production company logos, or promotional advertisements.
- No Text Handles
- Completely exclude any text layers displaying social media handles, QR codes, website URLs, or contact info.
- Content Restrictions
- Lyric videos and video covers of other artists' songs are generally not accepted for video distribution platforms like Spotify.
03Unified Metadata & Credits Checklist
- Artist Profiles
- Verify that your Spotify and Apple Music Artist URIs / IDs are correctly linked in your dashboard prior to submittal, to prevent your music from landing on someone else's profile.
- Songwriter Real Names
- Streaming platforms require the legal first and last names of all songwriters, lyricists, and composers. Do not use stage names or producer tags for songwriter credits.
- Explicit Flagging
- Accurately check the "Explicit Content" box if the audio or video lyrics require it. Mislabeling content can lead to mandatory store takedowns later.
- Codes (ISRC / UPC)
- If you are re-releasing an existing track, prepare your original ISRC codes to seamlessly sync your stream counts. If this is a fresh release, DistroKid will generate free codes automatically.
Two Ways to Send
Pick either route — or use both. Drop folders take the heavy uncompressed masters with no account and no size limit. The form is where your metadata, credits and codes get recorded. Please use both: files to the folders, metadata to the form.
Drag files straight in — no account, no sign-in, no size limit. Best for WAV/FLAC masters and video renders that are far too big for any web form.
Required fields, credits and codes. This is the record we work from — submissions without it cannot be processed.
- Audio masters and video files → Route A. These run from tens of MB to several GB and cannot pass through a web form.
- Metadata, credits and codes → Route B, always required.
- Cover art → either one. The drop folder handles the full-resolution 3000 px file; the form also accepts it up to 10 MB.
- Compressed reference tracks (MP3 under 10 MB) are welcome as form attachments to speed up review.
Submission Form
All marked fields requiredThe metadata you enter here is what we send to the distributor, so accuracy matters — mismatched titles, missing songwriter legal names and wrong explicit flags are the most common reasons a release gets pulled after it goes live.
Have these ready: your Spotify and Apple Music artist URIs, the legal first and last names of every songwriter, your explicit-content decision, and any original ISRC codes if you are re-releasing. Artist names and track titles on your files must match what you type here — character for character.
